On the 8th of November, our school launched its Zero Styrofoam campaign in conjunction with the upcoming Eco Carnival on the 14th of November. The campaign was launched during our weekly morning assembly, and was started off with a speech by the president of the Toyota Eco Rangers club, Nur Farhanah. The speech detailed the various repercussions of the usage of Styrofoam, which included its inability to decompose naturally within a short period of time.
As of the 8th of November, our school would no longer be using any form of Styrofoam, be it Styrofoam plates or Styrofoam containers. Students who wish to use containers for their food are to pay 50 cents for a biodegradable, disposable container. After the inspiring speech, our newly appointed headmistress, Puan Noorul Aini, officially launched the program by unfurling a banner. Posters painted on cloth by members of the Toyota Eco Rangers club were also hung in our school canteen and Serambi Ilmu. Let us all go Zero Styrofoam!
