A Brief Introduction to Us

The Green Projects of SMK (P) Sri Aman has been given more focus ever since our ex-headmistress, Puan Alainal Hasani first took charge of our school. Since then, these Green Projects have grown in number and broadened in scale. Puan Alainal gave her full support and cooperation to the school, on top of suggesting many helpful tips and ideas on making SMK (P) Sri Aman one of Malaysia’s Green Schools to the teachers and students in chare of carrying out Green Projects.

The Environment Team was then established to carry out activities that help the environment in various aspects. The Environment Team of SMK (P) Sri Aman is now known as the Toyota Eco Rangers Club, ever since Sri Aman managed emerge champion of the Toyota Eco Rangers competition in 2009.

The projects carried out in Sri Aman include the Solar Project, Rain Water Harvesting, Compost, Bio Enzyme, Recycling, planting forest trees, endangered species of trees and fruits, and herbs.

The Sri Aman Eco Music Band was also recently established. Sri Aman is currently developing green technology innovation projects in the school. The biggest Green Project that has been carried out by SMK(P) Sri Aman is the Solar Project (MBPIV), which has made Sri Aman the first school in Malaysia to own a solar panel.

Two Rainwater Harvesting tanks have been placed around the school compound and the rainwater that has been filtered by harvesting system will be used to clean school toilets. It can also be used by students to wash their hands or clean their classes.

The composting project involves the making or organic fertilizers by teachers and students. Compost that has been made will be packaged and sold to Sri Amanians and residents of the residential areas surrounding the school.

Bio Enzyme is produced monthly by members of the Toyota Eco Rangers club and sold to garner profits. The school is also actively involved in recycling projects. Numerous interesting activities have been carried out under our recycling projects, such as a recycling workshop, as well as making handicrafts out of old newspapers.

The main projects of the Toyota Eco Rangers Club in 2010 were tree-planting and innovation projects. About 120 forest trees, herbs, as well as fruit trees were planted around the school compound. The task of taking care of these plants was undertaken by students of SMK (P) Sri Aman who use compost and bio-enzyme as fertilizers.

The Eco Music Band is the pride and joy of SMK (P) Sri Aman as the band is the first band in the history of the school to use instruments made out of recyclable items. Although it has only been a month since the band was conceived, the Eco Music Band has already received numerous invitations to perform in events, such as the closing ceremony of 2010’s Anugerah Hijau.

In 2010, SMK(P) Sri Aman has successfully come up with two new green innovations which include the ‘Ember Window Cleaner’ and the ‘Sri Aman Composter’. The Eco Carnival and International Conference that was held on the 11th of November, 2010 was a massive success many students and members of society attended.

The school hopes that SMK(P) Sri Aman would keep up their efforts to raise awareness on the importance of conserving and preserving the environment  amongst students and members of society. The school also hopes that in 2011, Sri Aman would clinch the coveted title of ‘Green School’ and aid our nation in gaining international recognition in the field of Green Projects which also happens one of our school’s niche areas.
